Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)

Dr. Ha specializes in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an evidence-based approach designed for children ages 2 to 7 who are experiencing attention problems, disruptive behaviors, defiance, aggression, or autism spectrum disorder. This therapy is rooted in principles of social learning, attachment, developmental theories, and behavioral practices.

PCIT aims to strengthen the parent-child relationship by teaching specific skills known as PRIDE. During treatment sessions, both parents and children work with a therapist, where parents receive coaching on behavior management strategies to reduce disruptive behaviors and enhance compliance.

The typical course of treatment lasts about 16 weekly sessions and is conducted in two phases: Child-Directed Interaction (CDI) and Parent-Directed Interaction (PDI).
